'Clean Sweep Weekend' Planned

Victorville residents can get their spring cleaning done by participating in a Clean Sweep Weekend free of charge.

Residents are invited to visit the city of Victorville Recycling Drop-off Center between 8 a.m. and noon Saturday to dispose of old TVs, appliances, computers, e-waste, scrap metal, cardboard and packing paper.

Saturday is also Tire Amnesty Day, when residents can dispose of up to five tires. Car, motorcycle, or light truck tires only. Proof of Victorville residency required. No semi tires or tires from dealers.

A Clothing Recycling Drive & Raffle also will take place, where residents can drop off clothes, shoes and other textiles. For every kitchen-size plastic bag full of clothes brought in, a free raffle ticket will be given for a chance to win one of two ASUS Tablets.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, residents are invited to visit the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center to dispose of excess paint, motor oil, expired medications, sharps (needles), household batteries, fluorescent lights, pesticides, TVs/computers and other e-waste. The waste collection center is located on Loves Lane off Desert Knolls Drive, at the entrance to the High Desert Event Center.

The Victorville Recycling Drop-off Center is located at 15164 Anacapa Road, between Amargosa and Borego roads.
