I take an interest in others as a whole person, not just as a patient. Their achievements in school, sports, and music are important to me. I feel that my patients are almost like my kids. I am most proud to have patients who have grown out of my pediatric practice return as parents.

I decided to become a doctor at about age 10. My greatest influence was accompanying my grandfather who was a doctor on his house calls. My interest in pediatrics grew while I did my clinical rotations in medical school. If I wasnâ€™t a doctor I might be a science or history teacher – maybe even a National Park Ranger! I also love music and feel that it refreshes my soul.

I strive to keep up on new diagnostic techniques and therapies.m excited about the explosion of genetic tools helping with the diagnosis of a wide range of disorders. Many of our health problems are a lifestyle in origin.m concerned about the challenges I see today from things like childhood obesity. Managing fitness, nutrition, and diet can prevent many of these problems from occurring in the first place.
